Surfrider Foundation Belgian Coast est une association à but non lucratif dédiée à la protection de la côte belge et de sa mer, à la prévention de la pollution des eaux et des océans et au lobbying pour influencer la politique locale.
L’antenne Surfrider Foundation Belgian Coast a été fondée en janvier 2014 par Jerôme De Waele, Alexandre Dumont, Didier Engels, Antoine Geerinckx et Peter Vander Linden, 5 surfeurs passionnés (surf, windsurf, cerf-volant,…): leur but est de prolonger les efforts internationaux actuels de Surfrider Europe sur le littoral belge.
Dédié à la protection des océans et des côtes, Surfrider Foundation Europe fait pression, informe et collabore pour préserver ce patrimoine naturel exceptionnel. Les mers et les océans sont menacés par de fortes pressions anthropiques d’artificialisation via les structures côtières, l’urbanisation, la pollution de l’eau et les macro-déchets (déchets marins en plastique) qui nuisent à la qualité de notre environnement. Il est essentiel de respecter et de protéger ce patrimoine naturel pour nous-mêmes et pour les générations futures. C’est le message que nous voulons diffuser. Nous sommes prêts à mener des actions locales de sensibilisation afin de protéger notre nature dans le futur.

Surfrider Foundation Belgian Coast is a non-profit organization dedicated to protect and enjoy the Belgian Coast and its sea, to prevent for pollution in water and oceans and as lobbygroup to influence local politics.
The Surfrider Foundation Belgian Coast was founded in January 2014 by Jerôme De Waele (G-man), Alexandre Dumont (Pietje), Didier Engels (Deej), Antoine Geerinckx (Toontje) and Peter Vander Linden, 5 passionate surfers (surf, windsurf, kite,…) in order to extent SFE’s current international efforts to the Belgian Coastline.
Dedicated to the protection of oceans and coastlines, Surfrider Foundation Europe lobbies, informs, and collaborates to preserve this exceptional natural heritage. Seas and oceans are threatened by strong anthropogenic pressures of artificialisation via coastal structures, urbanization, water pollution and macro-waste (plastic marine trash) which are undermining the quality of our environment. It is essential to respect and protect this natural heritage for ourselves and future generations. This is the message we want to broadcast. We are up to lead local actions to raise awareness to protect our nature into the future.
